Corn Stalk Borer- The moths are gray-brown with less than a 1″ wings span. The front wings of the female are darker than those of the male. Caterpillars are thin, about 3/4 of an inch in length. They are light green with pale stripes and more prominent brown bands. The larvae bore into the corn and bean stems. Injury is usually worse in fields that have Johnson grass present. This is a chewing insect.
