LAWN- When looking for a fertilizer for your lawn it is best to look for a product containing a 3-1-2 ratio of nutrients. This should include Nitrogen (N), Phosphorous (P), and Potassium (K) as well as other micronutrients; including Iron (Fe). Our soils will benefit from a complete fertilizer that contains a slow release form of Nitrogen. The Nitrogen will release slowly therefore the plant will absorb it slowly, instead of a quick release that will cause your lawn to feed quickly and grow too fast. This will cause your lawn to grow rapidly, requiring more frequent mowing, watering, and fertilizing. This will also help the plant to remain strong throughout the hot and dry summer weather. Our Plant Shed brand is a slow release Nitrogen fertilizer, with a 21-7-14 ratio, with Iron. A 20 lb bag covers 5,000 sq feet.
TREES AND SHRUBS– Newly planted trees and shrubs should be fertilized using a root stimulator only. Established trees and shrubs should receive adequate feeding as you feed your lawn throughout the growing season. Any additional feeding of trees and shrubs should be done in the fall or during a good flush of new growth in the spring. Remember thick, heavy growth is not always strong growth. Always follow directions on the product that you select. Contact your nearest Plant Shed for questions, comments, or concerns regarding our products.
